CAPE TOWN SILOS | MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART
The Silos project is the result of a collaborative effort between the SBS Consortium (of which BEL Management is a member), London & Regional Properties and Dubai World who were the original developers/owners of the V&A Waterfront. In 2008, SBS was approached to come up with an original idea for the transformation of this historic landmark which dates back to 1921.
The intention behind the vision for a Museum of Contemporary Art which SBS created was for a concept that would benefit the city of Cape Town and feature a cultural aspect, much like the well-known Guggenheim or Tate Modern. During the process of bringing the project to life, London Regional Properties and Dubai World bowed out and were replaced by Growthpoint Properties and the V&A Management Company. The site is currently undergoing renovation.
As promoters of Cape Town Silos Museum of Contemporary Art, the SBS Consortium has introduced the world renowned Zeitz Collection in order to launch the museum and bring the project to completion.
